Selecting the Right College for You
|

Decisions, decisions.
How to make them?
I personally swear by “Eenie, meenie, miney moe.”
But, you could also flip a coin, pull a straw, or use a blindfold. Each mechanism is bound to steer you in the right direction.
The only exception, of course, is this life-altering thought, now pressing upon you:
What college or university should I attend?
Unfortunately, decisions about school are slippery, and often require less obvious tactics.
So what’s the best approach? First and foremost: get in touch with yourself. You need to understand your individual requirements before you can find a college that best fits you. Identify your preferences, habits, goals, needs, and desires. Then, consider the academic, social, and personal factors that may contribute to your college choices.
We’ve designed the following sections to make this process easier. If you stick to the guidelines, you should have no problem picking the right college for you.

Now that you’ve prepared for the SAT, you’re ready for the actual test! Get a good night’s rest, have confidence, and refer to College Board’s helpful test day checklist for materials:
What to Bring to the Test Center
• Your Admission Ticket
• Your passport for photo identification
• Two No. 2 pencils and a soft eraser; no pens or mechanical pencils are permitted
• An acceptable calculator (for the SAT Reasoning Test or Subject Tests in Mathematics)
• For a Language with Listening Subject Test, an acceptable CD player with earphones

Curious about your ICON+ peers’ academic background and goals? Read this feature to peek into the life of a university applicant.
Q: After you graduate from Victoria JC’s IP program, what memories will you hold on to the most?
A: Probably the spirit of my school, because every time during the sporting seasons we really supported each other very well. For example, I am on the tennis team, and for a tennis match, they would send 6-7 buses of students to support us! As a sportswoman this is what really matters, that people come out and support us.
time. Thankfully, I was able to pass.
Q: What are you looking for in a university?
A: Diversity. Because I’m going there as an international student, I want the students there to be able to embrace other cultures. Also, the “hype” of the school. You don’t just go to university to study, but you do a lot of other stuff like activities, and that’s also important.

The Benefits of an English Language Course
|

On first glance an English Language Course has obvious benefits. As the most commonly used language in the world a course allows students to interact with a vast number of different clients, networks and friends than was previously available to them, and furthermore provides further opportunities in the job market as a result.
Gaining a definitive qualification such as a TOEFL or IELTS results is a clear demarcation of your language skills. These are markers that are used as measurements not only by Universities and Business Schools, but also by companies and organisations. As internationally recognised qualifications, having a good score in either of these tests can help to set an applicant apart from their peers, especially on internationally expanding ventures.
However, sometimes the qualification alone does not help that individual person.
